Handmade Caribou Hair Tufting Flower in Frame

This listing is for a custom piece of tufting art.

These beautiful pieces are made from dyed caribou hair which has been tufted onto tanned deer hide. I was taught my method by another Métis Artisan and I love to share my work.

Caribou hair tufting is a unique Subarctic Indigenous art form developed in the early 20th century by Dene and Métis women in the Northwest Territories. (from The Virtual Museum of Métis History and Culture).
